Challenge: No Impact Week

My family and I are going to take this on. Will you join us?

  1. I once did a survey about lifestyle and consumption, and I don't consider myself an extravagant person, but it said if everyone on earth lived my lifestyle we would need the resources of 13.9 earths to sustain us. Kind of depressing...anyway that's an interesting project...I really want to consume less.

  2. We're going to give it a whirl too. When are you guys taking your sabbatical? We've got to wait till after the 13th—Community Seed Exchange D-Day. But working on that sort of counts toward no-impact, doesn't it?

I'm actually looking forward to doing this. We've been on a roll lately with Netflix' green documentaries.

  3. Joanie: That makes me laugh to hear you need 13.9 earths! Send me the link to the survey! I want to take it.

Geo: I haven't figured out when I am going to try this. I am still reading his book and I have some problems with it but, I am trying to take the message of green living not copying him. Any green docs you suggest? I like Food Inc. But tend to get depressed when they are over.

  4. Heidi,
Here is that link...I took one like this when I was a sophmore in college. I don't know if this is the same one, but it's pretty close.

  5. I just took the survey and scored better this time...we would only need 3.6 earths to sustain us all at my current standard:) This wasn't exactly the same survey though.

  6. Ha! I just took it and got 3.5! I wanted to say: I don't recycle the cardboard because I compost it. And yes, I have crappy gas mileage, but I transport 5-7 kids with me everywhere I go. Ach well, I am trying. :)
